England concluded the Ashes series by beating Australia in three days for the second consecutive test which brought the series to 3-1 with one to play at the Oval next week. It’s been thrilling to watch the boys dismantle the Aussies over the last few weeks. (Bar one misnomer at Lord’s!) It’s a sporting dichotomy that I am torn over, being blood-related to both countries, but my allegiance is always stronger for England.
Speaking of Australia, I’m starting to watch more Aussie Rules in preparation for the trip I’m making next year. The sport seems like a combination of rugby and American football with Quidditch posts as goals. Geelong Cats beat Sydney Swans 95-63 in very entertaining match in which Adam Goodes was suitably booed. My dad is a lifelong Geelong Cats supporter so naturally I have an affinity for them. I’m looking forward to being able to watch them play Hawthorn Hawks next week; knock them down a peg or two!
U-N-I-T-E-D United are the team for me!
I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for a football seasonto start than I have this year. Manchester United have made four excellent (expensive) signing so far during this transfer window totalling £80m. All four played today and, for the most part I was impressed. We played Tottenham Hotspur and beat them 1-0 in a game which was relatively unremarkable, even frustrating at times. I don’t care about that though we got a result which is the most important thing this early on!
